Elmjay Wetland, Edmonton

Bernie Amell completed the design and tendering of a 90,000 cubic meter wetpond and wetland system to manage the runoff from an industrial catchment area in Edmonton. While the main performance criteria was to provide superior volumetric management, the client supported a design that would simultaneously provide a high degree of water quality enhancement and the ability to mitigate hazardous materials risks. The facility has performed well when exposed to several intense runoff events, including one in June 2011, which was near to 1:100 year volumes.  Construction of this system was completed in 2005.
