Bow River Utility Crossing, Calgary

The Pine Creek WWTP is situated on the Bow River at the far south end of the City of Calgary opposite the neighbourhood of Cranston. Construction of the plant also required constructing a great deal of supporting sewage conveyance infrastructure so that newly developing and expanding communities in south Calgary could be appropriately serviced. A short distance upstream from the Pine Creek WWTP, a utility crossing of the Bow River was planned in support of constructing three inverted sewage syphons and one electrical utility conduit. The Bow River near the Pine Creek WWTP contains many islands which makes it difficult to cross while maintaining minimum flow in each channel as is required
by regulatory authorities.
