Forest Lawn Creek Diversion, Calgary
Triggered by the creation of the 68th Street Wetlands and the planned stormwater treatment facilities at the East Calgary Landfill, a 2 km long creek diversion was created in 2006/2007. This project’s goal was to divert that water flowing down a highly limited ditch like channel traversing the landfill site around the site in an ecological sensitive manner. The design features a naturalized channel with meanders, a floodplain and other ecologically important features to create durable habitat while accommodating necessary water conveyance.
